About Me.

My name is Marcus King, and I’m running to serve the people of DuPage County with the same dedication, resilience, and heart that I’ve brought to public service for over 15 years.
I know what it means to overcome. As a survivor of both a traumatic brain injury and cardiac disease, I’ve lived the realities of our healthcare system and understand the importance of strong support networks. These personal experiences drive my commitment to building communities where everyone—regardless of circumstance—has a fair shot at living with dignity, opportunity, and hope.
I’ve spent my career working at the intersection of government, community, and innovation. While serving with the Illinois Department of Corrections, I helped connect more than 5,000 individuals returning home from incarceration with vital health services—reducing recidivism by 13% and changing the trajectory of countless lives.
As Director of Communication and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Housing Authority of Cook County, I managed a $5.8 million mental health initiative to improve support systems across our communities. I’ve championed programs to protect seniors from identity theft, helped small business owners access state contracts, and contributed to one of the largest solar energy projects in Illinois history—an investment not just in clean power, but in saving taxpayers money.
I believe in smart, efficient governance. By partnering with nonprofits and community organizations, I’ve streamlined services and stretched every public dollar for maximum impact. Whether it’s delivering job training, expanding access to healthcare, or standing up for our most vulnerable neighbors, I’ve made it my mission to bring people together and deliver real results.
DuPage County deserves leadership that listens, leads with compassion, and gets things done. I’m ready to bring my experience—and my heart—to the job. Let’s build a stronger future, together.
